It takes a lot of courage to stand in front of people and speak. It takes even more courage to dance. Yet this is exactly what these competitors have offered to do. The contestants of Brookfield’s Dancing Stars Gala will spend the next few weeks learning to chase, dip and twirl their way across the dance floor. The Stars are not in it for prestige or personal gain but rather to raise funds from friends and supporters like you to help those in need. The funds raised will help women, children and families in our community receive free services and programs offered by Family & Children’s Aid and the Women’s Center of Greater Danbury.

All donations made to the teams go directly to the charity. All costs related to the event and Gala have been provided by the Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Brookfield or one of our great patrons. Each dollar donated is a vote for your favorite dancer. If you would like to make an offline donation, please contact Matthew Ames “Event Coordinator” at 203-775-6588 to make arrangements.

Allison Stockel - Executive Director, The Ridgefield Playhouse

After graduating NYU with a BA in Television Production and Music, Allison Stockel went on to produce television specials and shows for the likes of CNN, ABC, The Food Network, MTV Networks, Lifetime Television, and more. Upon moving to Ridgefield, Connecticut in December of 2000, she quickly became involved with The Ridgefield Playhouse, first as a board member and then as the Executive Director in 2004. As Executive Director Allison not only oversees the day to day running of the nonprofit, but she also books all of the programming – which includes a variety of renowned recording artists from all music genres (rock, pop, singer/songwriter, jazz, world beat, folk, country, and more). Allison's entertainment background has served as the springboard to expand the programming at the Ridgefield Playhouse through arts in education programming, dance, speakers, comedy, film society events, and an HD simulcast series broadcasting the Met Opera from New York, the National Theater from London, The Bolshoi Ballet from Russia and other special events such as Ted Talks, the 60th Anniversary screening of The Ten Commandments and more.
In addition to the Playhouse, Allison is on the Advisory Council for the Women's Center of Greater Danbury, an incorporator at The Lounsbury House in Ridgefield, delivers food and fundraises for Hillside Food Outreach, as well as SPHERE, Ability Beyond, Danbury Music Center, The Ridgefield Chorale, Sandy Hook Promise, and is a host parent for a student from A Better Chance, Ridgefield.
Allison’s philanthropic activities include donating her yearly salary back to the Playhouse

Allison will be paired with Elmar
Elmar began ballroom dancing in Germany at the age of 7, and through the years successfully competed in many Regional, National and International competitions. Upon completion of the extensive German training to become a certified dance instructor, he was immediately offered a position as Assistant Manager and Dance Instructor at one of the largest German dancing schools in Munich, Germany.
In January 2007, Elmar joined Fred Astaire Dance Studios as an owner and Director of the Brookfield, CT location where he continues to pursue his passion for dancing. Under his direction and instruction, the Brookfield Fred Astaire Dance Studio’s students and certified instructors win top placements in competitions and enjoy the magic of dance.

Last year Elmar's partner won both the "People's Choice Award" and split 1st place in the dance competition during our Dancing Stars event.
