It takes a lot of courage to stand in front of people and speak. It takes even more courage to dance. Yet this is exactly what these competitors have offered to do. The contestants of Brookfield’s Dancing Stars Gala will spend the next few weeks learning to chase, dip and twirl their way across the dance floor. The Stars are not in it for prestige or personal gain but rather to raise funds from friends and supporters like you to help those in need. The funds raised will help women, children and families in our community receive free services and programs offered by Family & Children’s Aid and the Women’s Center of Greater Danbury.

All donations made to the teams go directly to the charity. All costs related to the event and Gala have been provided by the Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Brookfield or one of our great patrons. Sarah Bouissou - Owner of Sarah's Wine Bar, Bernard’s, and Sarah Bouissou Catering

     Sarah’s cooking career began at Claude's Hohokus Inn in New Jersey. In 1985, she completed a three-month stage in Vichy, France at the two-star Michelin rated restaurant, Le Violon d’Ingres.  After she returned to the US she worked at Le Cirque Restaurant. Sarah was the first female chef ever hired there to work on the line where she, as the entre métier, met Bernard, the poissonier.  They fell in love on the line and have been cooking together ever since.  They were married in France on Bastille Day, 1990.  Sarah has also worked at Rakel’s, under Chef Thomas Keller in New York.  In 1991, she opened a high-end catering business in New York City, Sarah Bouissou Catering, which is still flourishing in the metropolitan tri-state area.
     At Bernard’s, Sarah runs the front of the house while Bernard continues to wow people with his culinary brilliance. Open since March of 2000, Bernard’s has received a number of awards for their fabulous food and exceptional wine list. In 2008, they opened Sarah’s Wine Bar on the second floor of Bernard’s with a more casual atmosphere and bistro style menu. Their four daughters, Gabrielle, Juliette, Madeleine, and Pauline have all worked at the restaurant and are now onto careers of their own in NYC.  Bernard and Sarah continue to love living, working and being in Ridgefield where they play an active role in the community, donating time and food to many local philanthropic organizations.


Sarah will be paired with Morten

     Morten grew up in Denmark where he began dancing at age 5. A love of dancing brought Morten to the United States, and while working for Fred Astaire Franchised Dance Studios he met his wife and business partner Mira. Together they took over ownership of the Ridgefield studio in 2013 so they can continue to share their knowledge, passion and love of dance in a greater way.

    During his time in the states, Morten has already won multiple regional and national titles, including a world championship, in the International Standard Division. In 2011 he also earned the Danish National Title in International Standard. Now competing in Open American Smooth, Morten has won multiple regional and national competitions.
